Ultimate plek/gig om by te speel?
I always love playing Oppikoppi – looking out from the stage across people’s heads and seeing the bushveld stretch out all the way to that amazing horizon really is one of the most beautiful sights. We’re looking forward to playing there again this August. One of my favourite gigs last year was in Austin, Texas, at the South By Southwest festival. If you’re a music lover it’s just the best – it’s like a 1860s Wild West town, saloon bars and all, that gets totally overrun with attention-seeking bands from around the world. It’s insane.

The element of surprise. A line that feels like it’s been truly lived. Rhythm’s important – the sound of the words almost more than the meaning of the words.

Someone once gave me a Fender Telecaster from 1965. It’s my favourite guitar. On the other extreme, someone was very upset with me the other night because my lyrics made her cry. She was not happy
Kan ons enige iets interessant verwag van die Simply South African rock show in Clapham?
We’ll be playing songs from our new EP called ‘Harmonium’ for the first time, and also playing some songs with the great Guy Buttery. It’s going to be a good night, and we leave for the airport to go to New York straight afterwards, so we’ll be pretty buzzed-up.
